TomTom Telematics has launched TomTom PRO 8275 TRUCK, a customisable driver terminal, to help improve truck navigation, driver safety and business processes.
Recent research from TomTom Telematics has indicated one in five (21 per cent) Aussie motorists have become stuck behind a lost or immobile truck driver within the last year. The new TomTom PRO 8275 TRUCK aims to make this a thing of the past.
Through TomTom’s comprehensive mapping of Australian roads, the TomTom PRO 8275 TRUCK provides dedicated routes for trucks based on dimensions, weight, hazardous cargo and max speed. This enables drivers to avoid bridges, small streets, sharp turns, U-turns and restricted roads as much as possible, ensuring a smoother journey, as well as helping keep drivers and cargo safe, by avoiding potentially risky routes.
Combined with TomTom Traffic, which helps predict and avoid traffic on both motorways and secondary roads, TomTom PRO 8275 TRUCK will aid truck drivers in selecting the fastest route, helping them to arrive safely and on time. The new driver terminal seamlessly integrates information captured in the field enriching existing business applications to enable smarter decision-making, enhanced by the immediacy of real-time data.
Additionally, the driver terminal can be customised using open APIs, allowing businesses to create bespoke apps tailored to their needs.
Ready-made apps are also available in the TomTom App Center. Vehicle checks, proof of delivery, paperless reporting, question paths and barcode scanning can be integrated into WEBFLEET workflow, helping make life on the road easier for drivers, improving service quality for end customers, and enabling better compliance with regulatory requirements.
“WEBFLEET and the TomTom PRO 8275 TRUCK enables businesses to operate fleets more efficiently and safely, while improving customer satisfaction,” said Christopher Chisman-Duffy, Sales Manager at TomTom Telematics Australia. “By providing both driver and back office information in real-time, everyone works better as a team and can make smarter decisions.”
