TomTom Telematics acquired by Bridgestone, the world´s leading tyre company

On 1 April 2019, TomTom announced the closing of the sale of TomTom Telematics B.V. to Bridgestone Europe NV/SA (“Bridgestone”), a subsidiary of Bridgestone Corporation in EMEA. So as of this date, Bridgestone has formally become the new owner of TomTom Telematics.

What will change?
As far as day-to-day matters are concerned, it’s business as usual. TomTom Telematics was an independent business unit within the TomTom Group and the change of ownership will have no impact on the continuity of our daily operations. We’ll keep doing what we’ve always done: delivering high quality telematics products and services.

We will continue to act in the market under the name TomTom Telematics.

What does this mean for TomTom Telematics?
This deal brings together one of the leaders in the global telematics market with the world’s largest tyre company. We will combine our knowledge of fleet management and of processing connected car data with Bridgestone’s worldwide reach and understanding of tyres and vehicles. This will power us to set a new standard in telematics.

With more and more vehicles getting connected, an even more valuable network will be created for our customers and we’ll be continuously improving our services to help them get the maximum benefit from it.

TomTom Telematics remains committed to helping businesses of all sizes improve their vehicle performance, save fuel, support drivers and increase their overall fleet efficiency. Our customers can expect the same ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certified service, with the highest standards of confidentiality, integrity and availability, always in accordance with GDPR privacy directives.

Expanding with Bridgestone puts us in an even better position to keep doing this work. This deal will help us to further innovate our platform and the data-driven services we provide.
