Webfleet further supports Australian heavy vehicle operators with SmartOBM certification by Transport Certification Australia
SYDNEY, Australia (May 11, 2026) – Webfleet, Bridgestone’s globally trusted fleet management solution, is now certified by Transport Certification Australia (TCA) to offer the Telematics Monitoring Application (TMA) with Smart On-Board Mass in partnership with Airtec Corporation.
On-Board Mass data is critical for road managers and bridge owners to provide certainty about usage, volume, and tonnage of freight in transit when granting access to sensitive infrastructure in Australia’s road network.
Smart On-Board mass digitises this data provision, streamlining and reducing compliance overhead for heavy vehicle operators, various government bodies, and managers of Australia’s road network, greatly improving access to the road network.
For operators of heavy vehicles, Smart On-Board Mass systems reduce the amount of tedious paperwork required for permits, reducing the time required to obtain relevant permits for transport.
Webfleet is now certified to provide TCA-recognised on-board mass data from the Airtec SmartOBM system.
The certification of Webfleet by the TCA was heralded by a visit to Australia by Marcelo Godinho, Webfleet’s Vice President, Fleet Management Solutions – LATAM, Middle East, Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
This is an important milestone for us in Australia
, Godinho said. For heavy transport, many large fleets require OBM capability as a baseline. Without it, it is very difficult to operate effectively in this market. Achieving certification allows us to better support heavy freight operators and be better aligned to Australia’s operating environment.
CEO of Airtec Corporation, David Hewett, commented on the partnership, The new integration with Webfleet marks an exciting step forward in delivering smarter fleet solutions for Australian heavy vehicle operators. Webfleet’s powerful fleet management platform, combined with Airtec’s SmartOBM technology, ensures a seamless TCA-compliant solution.
Gavin Hill, representing Transport Certification Australia, said the National Telematics Framework was designed to provide governments and industry with confidence in how telematics technologies perform and how data is collected and used.
Gavin said by offering Smart OBM, Webfleet is demonstrating how the Framework supports practical implementation without prescribing commercial relationships.
The Framework provides an independent, nationally consistent assurance mechanism that supports the use of telematics for public purpose outcomes
, he said.
Certification gives confidence that technologies meet defined performance and data requirements, while allowing operators and technology providers to innovate within a trusted system.
