Amsterdam, 18th June 2007: TomTom WORK, a subsidiary of the world's largest portable navigation solutions provider and international provider of Connected Navigation solutions for fleet management, has won Frost & Sullivan's '2007 European Commercial Vehicle Telematics Product Differentiation Innovation of the Year Award.'
TomTom WORK has exceeded market growth expectations. With TomTom WORK, TomTom has found a niche market where fleet managers need advanced technologies to meet the increasing demands the market places on them. In its 2006 report on European Commercial Vehicle Telematics Systems, Frost and Sullivan predicts significant growth for the industry. The report suggests the market for medium and heavy commercial vehicle telematics systems is expected to be worth EUR 1.6 billion, with an estimated 3.3 million units sold by 2011.
The Frost & Sullivan Award for Product Differentiation Innovation of the Year is presented each year to the company that has best demonstrated the ability to develop and/or advance products with more innovative capabilities than competing vendors and products. The award recognises TomTom's successful adoption of new technology that has become a part of its well-designed product family. Frost & Sullivan's criteria also looked for companies where innovation is expected to significantly contribute to the industry in terms of product performance and degree/rate of technical change and time to market improvement based upon product differentiation strategy.
The success of TomTom WORK is placed on the all-in-one and plug and play aspects of the solution. The well known TomTom GO is combined with the TomTom LINK and the WEBFLEET solution to provide users with a connection solution which is easy to install and use. The solution is excellent value for money compared to competitors and can be operated for as little as EUR 2 a day and with no extra software or technical support required.
Users can survey and guide vehicles and staff, manage and plan business, communicate with drivers and help them find their way the easy way!
Thomas Becher, Commercial Director for TomTom WORK commented “We are pleased to achieve recognition for the innovation in developing the TomTom WORK solution. TomTom has a strong track record of innovation and leading edge engineering and we will continue to develop the portfolio.”
