Amsterdam, 6 October 2008: TomTom WORK, the business-to-business unit of the world leader in portable navigation solutions, TomTom, and KPN (BMS), the leading telecommunications and ICT service provider in the Netherlands, have signed a partnership offering a connected navigation solution to KPN's extensive base of large corporate customers in the Netherlands.
As an initial step of this partnership, KPN has started implementation of the TomTom WORK connected navigation solutions within its own large service fleet. This means accurate door-to-door navigation as well as two-way communication between TomTom navigation devices, the KPN office and the mobile workforce. KPN is the first telecom operator in the Netherlands to use such a fleet management solution to increase efficiency and service.
Eelco Blok, on the Board of KPN, says: “We are very impressed with the ease of use of TomTom WORK. In order to demonstrate the benefit of the solution to our corporate customers we felt it was important to experience it ourselves. Combined with our own knowledge and expertise, we will deliver a full fleet management solution service. This enables our customers to increase efficiency within their entire mobile work force.”
KPN will bring to market a fully managed service for companies with fleets of vehicles. This service includes the connected navigation solution of TomTom WORK as well as reports, hardware, back office integration and implementation in its customer's vehicles and on-site training by KPN.
With this fleet management solution, users will be able to manage vehicles real-time through WEBFLEET, the online fleet and order management application that is available 24 hours a day, from any PC with Internet connection. This ensures easy location of the vehicles, an overview of the job status and trouble-free allocation of tasks.
“This partnership is an important step in our strategy to support large companies with a fully connected navigation solution”, said Harold Goddijn, TomTom's chief executive officer. “Our offering saves companies time and money, bringing clarity and transparency to their businesses and their communication. It also improves the efficiency and comfort of drivers and we look forward to implementing this solution with KPN.”
